The vast, four-story brick, Classical Revival building had been vacant since the 1990s, when the high school moved to the suburbs and consolidated with Jefferson Moore High School on the site of the former Rich Field, a World War I air base. The “old” Waco High Tigers were known for their coach Paul Tyson, whose career at Waco High began in 1913 and who became one of the nation's most successful high school football coaches. The building was adapted for apartments and reopened in 2009.
