Overshadowed by the neighboring, but extensively altered, Hauschild Opera House of 1893 at 202 E. Forrest Avenue, this two-story red brick building with buff brick trim contained George H. Hauschild's cigar manufacturing business.

Next door at 208 N. Liberty Street is the two-story house of Adele and G. H. Hauschild of 1900, which looks like it might be a Jules Leffland design. A block down N. Liberty at number 104 is the c. 1870 Joe T. Jecker House with extensive alterations of 1904 by Jules Leffland. It represents Leffland's version of what, originally, was probably a two-story I-house, the most characteristic two-story vernacular house type of nineteenth-century Victoria.
