1900, Jules Leffland. 204 E. Santa Rosa Ave.

The town house built by rancher Julia Teal Murphy, the Victoria-born daughter and widow of Irish immigrants, is one of Leffland's most picturesque in terms of its composition and most textured in terms of its finish materials. An octagonal, three-story turret on the west corner of the house balances a rotated pavilion at the east corner of the first-floor gallery with a cylindrical loggia above, while the front door is centered beneath a gabled double-level porch. The gallery continues around the east side of the house, exposing interior rooms to the prevailing southeast breeze.
