Emmie McFaddin Nave retained San Antonio architects Atlee B. and Robert M. Ayres to design this stunning classical temple with its hexastyle Ionic portico of polished Vermont marble as a memorial to her husband, La Grange–born painter Royston Nave. For more than forty years, the Royston Nave Memorial contained Victoria's public library. Since 1976, it has been the Nave Museum, Victoria's art museum. Despite its monumental appearance, the building is small; the museum's permanent collection is limited to Royston Nave's body of work, although the Victoria Regional Museum Association, the Nave's parent organization, also owns the Jules Leffland and Son architectural collection.
