Leffland's grandest and most refined Colonial Revival house was built for lawyer and banker J. V. Vandenberge. It is double fronted, with a colossal Ionic portico facing N. Vine Street and a bow-fronted Ionic portico, containing a wide balcony between flanking bay windows, facing W. Goodwin Avenue. Vandenberge shared the block on N. Vine Street with his law partner Frank H. Crain, for whom in 1915 Victoria architects Praeger and Dixon designed a substantial Craftsman chalet-type house. At 402 W. Goodwin is Sam H. Dixon Jr.'s Colonial Revival house (1915) for Guy Mitchell, another Proctor, Vandenberge, Crain and Mitchell partner.
