This is the boldest of the commercial buildings by James Riely Gordon to survive in San Antonio. The facade is almost a catalogue of Richardsonian Romanesque decoration, with rock-faced limestone set off against pressed brick. Gordon seemed to enjoy the insertion of unexpected elements like the twin oriel windows on the second floor and the projecting balcony on the third floor that appears to be supported by a pair of insubstantial granite columns.
