The former First Methodist Church is faced with weathered pink stucco and cast-concrete Spanish-style ornament that, like other buildings by Silber, a German-born San Antonio architect, is bold in scale but surprisingly flat in profile. It exhibits a tension between the architecturally elaborated church and the unornamented educational wing, which was characteristic of institutional buildings of the 1920s.
