The fifteen-story former insurance company building was Beaumont's first real skyscraper. Crowned with a staged clock tower nearly seven stories taller than the building beneath, it set the local pattern of off-center penthouses. At 627 Orleans Street is the eleven-story former Hotel Beaumont (1922) by Little Rock architects Mann and Stern. The pairing of the Hotel Beaumont and the San Jacinto Building is a poignant reminder of Beaumont's big-city past.
