This handsome building may be the oldest commercial building downtown and is straightforward in design with such Italianate details as round-arched windows and a bracketed cornice. The building is unusually deep, taking advantage of its side frontage on 7th Street to provide a separate entrance for a
hotel that occupied its western end. Restoration of the building in 1983 became a catalyst for other reinvestment in the business district.
