Liberty historian Miriam Partlow dated this graceful Gulf Coast cottage to 1841. Its curious siting (it backs up to Grand Avenue rather than facing it) stems from the much later construction of a house facing Webster Avenue in what had been the double-deep front yard of the Abbott house. Built of wood, the house has been resurfaced with stucco. The house possesses a distinctive Louisiana Creole attribute visible in other Liberty area houses (
AT12): the insertion of shuttered French doors flanking the central entrance door in place of sash windows, although, as in Louisiana examples, the outer bays contain sash windows.
