Following a fire in 1906, Quidnesset Baptist Church was rebuilt by a firm particularly well known for Catholic churches. Although the building's profile supposedly duplicates that of the original (1842) Gothic Revival structure, the extraordinary use of fireproof rock-faced concrete blocks and the blunt layering of the cuboid massing gives this building a hard-edged, looming silhouette which, while certainly crude, is nevertheless surprisingly commanding. The effect is now compromised by a large parish house addition to the south, also of concrete block, but smooth faced in contrast to the church.
