Extending well back from either side of Middle Road between Fry's Corner and Greene's Corner, Fry's Hamlet comprises three adjoining farmsteads spread across approximately 272 acres. Remarkable as a small node of early houses still owned by the family that built them, this group comprises three eighteenth-century farmhouses, each with several outbuildings, including barns, privies, sheds, corncribs, milk houses, silos, icehouses, washhouses, and a cider mill. Few complexes in the state remain as primary documentation of the agricultural activity that predominated in Rhode Island during its first two centuries. This is among the best.
