Mid-18th century. 77 3rd St. (opposite Battery St.)

This standard two-story gambrel-roofed house was moved to this site. It takes its name from its occupant at the time of the Revolution, the editor of the Newport Mercury, a staunch patriot who whipped up sentiment against the Stamp Act.
