St. John is beautifully crafted if somewhat loosely composed, in the manner of an English parish church, in rock-faced tan granite trimmed in brown sandstone. The entrance porch, placed forward in one corner of the church toward Washington Street, and a square, quite plain bell tower set back against the side elevation and hard against Willow Street make nice use of the corner site.
