1828, 1859. 48 Court St.

Built of tough, random-coursed ashlar masonry, this rather stern Greek Revival jail was discreetly tucked onto a back street when it was built in 1828, replacing its 1792 predecessor. In 1859 a granite cell block was added. The Bristol Historical and Preservation Society has been here since 1959, and the cell block is open to the public as a museum.
