The usually modest and personal Italianate here attains a rare monumentality with the device of an extraordinary cupola crowned by its red slate dome that provided views of the rising downtown. Much of the interior classical detail dates from Stearns and Castor's renovations in 1900. In 1983, the house was restored by Hyman Myers of Vitetta Group and is now a public library.
