William Brithuigh was the architect and Irwin Merrill the builder of this former town hall, an exercise in picturesque eclecticism. Its curvilinear gable and asymmetrically placed campanile derive variously from Dutch and Italianate sources, a melange that is perhaps appropriate for a building that now houses the heritage center and documents the various ethnic groups that served the industry.
