Wilkes-Barre's own Pantheon follows the typology associated with the teaching of medicine until the middle of the twentieth century. Here, a medical library occupies the first floor, while a circular auditorium, lit by a skylight, occupies the second. Four doors away, Manhattan's C. P. H. Gilbert designed the limestone Chateauesque house at 170 S. Franklin Street in 1914 for Frederick Weckesser, an executive with the Kirby and Woolworth dimestore chains.
