This private swim and tennis club includes spaces for meetings and a library. Incorporated in 1904, the club purchased this site from the Charles Mellor family. While seemingly Spanish influenced in its stucco and elaborate tile roof, Arts and Crafts influences are much stronger, as seen in its cottagelike outline, steeply pitched roof, dormer windows, gardenlike atmosphere, and a pergola. The Mellor complex occupies a dramatic site on its own hill, the better to exploit the picturesque qualities of an exquisitely designed structure.
