This war memorial building was constructed by the GAR to honor those who participated in the Civil War. This single-story brick-clad building on a raised basement stylistically leans somewhat toward the Georgian Colonial. Design elements such as the dormer windows point to what was then occurring in Chicago in the work of George W. Maher and others. The building is situated within a small, pleasant park, which in addition to this building houses a classical fountain and pool and a miniature Statue of Liberty.
