1902–1906, John G. Ralston. Corner of 4th and South streets

A Beaux-Arts Classical design is held in check by a restrained hand (probably that of budget). Unusual in this design is the successful introduction of the library's main entrance into the raised basement under the portico. Given the prominence of the raised ground level around the building, some planting of trees and shrubbery would help.
