The Jones family lived in tents on the site while this large, three-story house of log and local granite was being constructed. Winston Jones, whose father designed this mountain mansion, began collecting bells in 1925 and now has some 5,000, including school bells, locomotive bells, hotel desk bells, mine warning bells, and Molly Brown's Chinese dinner gong. Bells filled the house and overflowed into the grounds, inspiring the Joneses to open their house as a museum in 1957.
