Jacques Benedict designed this house to look like a medieval monastery, complete with an arcaded cloister, steep-pitched front gable, and octagonal Gothic Revival tower. Uncoursed native rhyolite and log half-timbering characterize the rough-hewn exterior of a sophisticated design. This fanciful mountain home merited publication in The Western Architect. Descendants of the original owner, Paul T. Mayo, still reside here.
