Francis E. Everett built this two-story brick building with stone trim to house his bank. He served as mayor of Golden (1881–1888) but committed suicide when it became known that he had defrauded bank customers. One of the finest structures on Golden's main street, the Everett Block echoes the Second Empire style. George Morrison (see entry for the town of Morrison, Jefferson County), with contractor John H. Parsons, built the stone horseshoe arches and stone courses for merchant Francis Everett. After considerable abuse and the collapse of a central wall in 1984, the block has been beautifully restored by Frederick A. (Heinie) Foss for use as the Henry J. Foss Clothing Co.
