This two-story Italianate building, stucco with a paneled stone frieze and a stone cornice, has a central, pedimented parapet. Town founder Alonzo Hartman, who arrived in 1872, started out as a rancher providing beef to the Los Pinos Ute Indian Agency. This elegant commercial block suggests that he prospered.
