This elegant Georgian Revival one-story building on a raised basement has dark red brick walls complemented by the light-colored red of the tiled hipped roof. All the detailing is white, from the window frames of the tall round-arched windows to their keystones, the panels beneath the windows, the dentiled cornice, and most especially the framing of the central entrance with Ionic columns and a broken pediment. The interior has been remodeled. As in many small towns across the nation, this public library has its origins in the activities of a group of women, here the twenty-five members of the Morrilton Pathfinder Club, who organized in 1898 and worked together to establish a library in their community. An application to the Carnegie Foundation for help with funding construction of the library was successful. Only this and the library in Eureka Springs (CR10) still function as libraries.
