From the 1920s through the 1960s, Broadway was Lubbock’s most important east–west thoroughfare, linking the courthouse square downtown to the entrance of the Texas Tech campus to the west. The buff brick walls and limestone trim of Hedrick’s substantial Gothic Revival church emphasize contrasts between the stepped volumes and Perpendicular Gothic details of the tracery windows, finials, and triple stepped-jamb doorways. In terms of scale, materials, and decoration, the church adheres to a design formula popular in the 1920s.
