Designed by local architect Becker, the San Angelo Municipal Pool (replacing an earlier pool destroyed in the great flood of 1936) was built by a Works Progress Administration (WPA) construction crew. Clad in rough-faced stone, the L-shaped Pueblo Revival building has two one-story dressing room wings joined by an octagonal two-story entrance pavilion. Originally built with a single 400,000-gallon rectangular swimming area, the pool was altered in 1980 and again in 2012 and now includes a beach entrance, spray toys, two large water slides, and shade areas.
