To scrub away some of the city's pungent frontier heritage, Mayor Speer proposed this brick box with sparse Neoclassical frosting. Still open to the public for swimming, billiards, basketball, aerobics, and arts programs, it commemorates the progressive commitment of the City Beautiful era to improving the lives of all citizens.
