Rising two and one-half stories on a hilltop, this Georgian Revival showplace is red brick laid in English bond. The gabled roof is covered in Pennsylvania slate with four large chimneys. Eight imposing columns support the front porch, which is formed by an extension of the rooflines. Saco R. DeBoer's landscaping, featured in a 1924 Country Life article, consisted of formal gardens, an octagonal gazebo and fireplace for the summer garden, a lily pond, and an entry forecourt and garden wall to mask the four-car garage and caretaker's cottage. From Alexis C. Foster, a banker and businessman, the house passed to leading architect and developer Temple Hoyne Buell, who was active from the 1920s to the 1980s.
