Grant Hall is the oldest building on the campus, and the one seen first when arriving from the west. The best Alaskan example of the International style of the postwar years, it was designed by an Anchorage firm. The two-story building has a mixture of wall materials: rough stone, glass and aluminum, and vertical wood siding on a circular element that contains a theater. A mural of the earth on a blank front wall was added much later. Originally, administrative offices were in the cantilevered portion to the left, while the main block of the building contained classrooms and the library. Today the building holds administrative offices and classrooms.
