One of the several buildings reflecting Fort Smith’s early German influence is this substantial three-story stone building, with an underground beer vault and a first floor designed for malting, brewing, and kegging. It was built by German immigrant Knoble, who supplied beer to saloons throughout Fort Smith. A secondary but no less essential function of the brewery was the Biergarten next to the building, which provided outdoor space for social events and celebrations. After Prohibition, the building was used for a variety of activities and then was purchased and restored in 1961. It now houses a restaurant.
