This high-raised house occupying a corner site attracts attention with the detailing of the wood screens framing its inset, double-level front porch. The decorative wit of the fanciful arched lintels and brackets, filled with spindlework reiterated in the balustrades below, suggests Alfred Muller's hand, as does the detailing of the stucco-surfaced, arched basement wall. The house is grandiose in scale, although the exterior is finished very simply with wood clapboards, the almost universal surfacing material of nineteenth-century Galveston houses both humble and grand.
