1871, 1886, 1890. 205 S. Market St.

The former Goliad Market House is a rare Texas survivor of a mid-nineteenth-century public market house building type: a one-story, end-gabled, wood shed. Houston's city market house of 1840 was similar in its exterior configuration. From 1886 until 1964, this building served as Goliad's firehouse; the false front and belfry date from an 1890 remodeling. Since 1967, the building has been the Market House Museum.
