Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church is the same basic design as that of the previous church on the site. Archdeacon Hudson Stuck had built a log building with a gable front and a gable-roofed vestibule in 1905; it was destroyed by fire in 1947. The new church, designed by Bell and Upjohn of New York City, is built with logs sawn flat on three sides. The belfry is on top of the vestibule, nestled under the peak of the gable, rather than on the nave roof. There is a large, recent addition in the rear, but the rustic character of this church prevails.
