The brothers Theodore and Bernard Klieves were partners in the construction firm of Klieves, Kraft and Company. Edward Wells, though not a partner, was the firm's architect and in all likelihood designed these identical twin houses. Their felicitous three-bay facades update the Wheeling Italianate idiom with snazzy Second Empire mansard roofs, complete with the most exuberant dormers this side of Paris.
