A striking sandstone formation is the natural centerpiece of this small wayside park, while the chief man-made attraction is a rustic stoneand-log picnic shelter, approached from the parking lot by a stairway. Built in 1938, the year the park was established, the pavilion is an excellent example of rustic park design and Civilian Conservation Corps workmanship. The shelter contains a large covered area, with a mammoth fireplace at one end and a serving area nearby. On the opposite side are an office and restrooms.
