This frame Italianate house set back from the street corner is marked by a tall, narrow tower with a steep pyramidal roof in the angle between the two main blocks. A one-story front porch extends on either side of the tower. This was the home of U.S. Postmaster General Wilson, who inaugurated the nation's first rural free delivery system from Charles Town. His Baltimore cousin, who was an architect, claimed to have designed the house, but architect, builder, and fire chief Julius C. Holmes of Charles Town has also been credited.
