This restrained Greek Revival house was built as the master armorer's residence, replacing earlier quarters next door. Its two-story, five-bay facade is unadorned except for simple wooden trim around the central entrance. At the rear, a two-tiered porch that fills the angle between the house and an ell overlooks the Shenandoah River. Both the main block and the wing have stepped gables.
