This is one of Burlington's finest Federal houses, built on fashionable Pearl Street by one of its wealthiest merchants. The five-bay, two-story, Flemish bond brick structure displays many hallmarks of the local high style. The six-over-six sash windows are set beneath flat-arched brick lintels. The end walls have pedimented gables punctuated by half-round attic windows and a pair of high brick chimneys. Stone steps with rounded nosings lead to the central, recessed entrance, where paneled pilasters with rosettes carry a semielliptical fanlight with floral tracery and frame sidelights set above panels with a distinctive balustrade appliqué. Attributed to local craftsman Russell Skinner, the detailing of this house has close counterparts in a number of Pearl Street residences.
