1823. c. 1860s, side porch and later addition. 43 Miller St.

Rudolphus Johnson, merchant, whaler, and owner of a wharf at the end of Johnson Street, was the most prominent early nineteenth-century owner of this five-bay Federal house with quoining. Its notable feature is its severe side-lighted door topped by a broad entablature with an inset fan, providing a nice antithesis between boldness and elegance.
