1883, Rowland Hazard II. Over the Saugatucket River

When built, the Church Street Bridge, generally considered to be the most handsome of the five stone-arched bridges that Rowland Hazard designed for Peace Dale, had the longest span of any bridge of this type in Rhode Island. It was built in documented collaboration with the mason Kneeland Portelow, as most of Hazard's masonry structures must have been.
