For this New Orleans merchant who moved to Newport, Warren created a clapboarded block with projecting center and heavy entablature. Four giant pilasters adorn the center, with exotic capitals remote from the chasteness of most eighteenth-century examples, but typical for late Greek Revival. “Rusticated” corner piers close the recessed ends. Above the projecting section is an attic story, once crested with a low stepped and paneled parapet, as was the principal roof. More exotic Corinthian capitals support the rather pinched porch, which was also once capped, like the attic, with a low parapet structure. The adjustment of this house to the slope and small size of its new site gives it an uncomfortable aspect; Warren's elevation also appears somewhat unresolved.
