A cluster of local stone houses by Horace Trumbauer–trained McGoodwin, unified by high French roofs and rough but lively carving, establishes the identity of French Village. This neighborhood begins with the so-called gatehouses that frame Cresheim Valley Road where it crosses W. Allens Lane.
