The simple stone-fronted houses are attributed to the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company and recall nothing so much as a street in Wales or Ireland, the homeland of much of the workforce in the local mines and canals. The houses were built atop a millrace, providing evidence of the congestion of the site.
