Apparently as exuberant and optimistic in his personality as his architecture, Brown designed and erected this house for his family when he was in his early seventies. In many respects it represents the numerous builder-designed dwellings in the Northern Tier at the turn of the twentieth century. A rather ungainly, large-scaled, multigabled frame house, it also showcases Brown's favorite details: a stacked porch and balcony and eight gables filled with starbursts. Building extensively during the height of Wyalusing's economy, Brown was responsible for much of the borough's present appearance.
