Thomas A. Parker (d. 1901), a wholesale grocer and real estate developer who was a vestryman at Christ Church, reportedly built this house to the plans that Lloyd had designed for the rectory of Christ Church, across the street, but that had not been executed. One of many Gothic Revival houses produced by Lloyd between his arrival in Detroit in 1858 and the Panic of 1873, this Kelley Island pale grayish-yellow limestone and sandstone building demonstrates the architect's interest in English medieval architecture. The interior has been rehabilitated for offices, retaining the decorative woodwork, floors, and staircases.
