The two-story, triangular-plan building constructed of steel and concrete has a three-hundred-foot-long east wall of glass, mirroring a panorama of the river and the city. The building turns its back on the expressway immediately to the west and, instead, faces the river and the downtown skyline to the east. A forty-foot-long reflecting pool with a fountain and a water cascade graces the site. The interior contains open gallery areas, a 270-seat auditorium, and a full-size replica of the White House's Oval Office. The National Archives and Records Service of the General Services Administration operates the presidential museum. The Ford library is in Ann Arbor on the North Campus of the University of Michigan. On January 3, 2007, President Ford was interred on the grounds of the museum.
