The R. Guastavino Company Factory produced thin structural tile for some of the most important buildings in the United States during the early twentieth century, such as the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City and the
Nebraska State Capitol
. Rafael Guastavino, a native of Spain, collaborated with William E. Blodgett of Woburn, who served as the company's business manager. Built of stone and brick, the building features a two-story entrance lobby vaulted with Guastavino tile and a floor that incorporates colorful shards of tile from company projects. Guastavino's and Blodgett's sons maintained the business until 1962. In 1998, the structure was purchased by the Tocci Building Corporation, which has adapted the factory as its headquarters.
