Boston architect James T. Kelley designed this house for James Lovejoy, a prominent local physician, between his work on the Lynn Bank and Lynn Gas and Electric blocks (LY6). He provides here a free interpretation of Colonial Revival in which ornamentation of the facade is concentrated in a grand frontispiece framing the entrance. Paired pilasters, which extend the full height of the house, are topped by a pediment containing an oculus surrounded with elaborate sculptural ornament. The interior is also largely unaltered and features ornate period finishes. The Greater Lynn Arts Association acquired and preserves the house.
